Museum of historic photography
The Museum of Historic Photography is composed of three sections:
- A permanent exhibit of 19th and 20th century photography equipment;
- The archives of historic photography collections;
- A library specialised in the history of photography, based on the original collections of the National Photographic Laboratory (Gabinetto Fotografico Nazionale), parts of the Becchetti collection and subsequent acquisitions.

The museum-archive is committed to providing conservation, preservation and access to photographic heritage. It acquires collections and archives that would otherwise be lost to public access.
The museum offers public access and works in accord with Italian universities in the organisation of visits, internships and theses research. It organises occasional temporary exhibits based on the collections, usually mounted in the “Church of the Zitelle”, at ICCD headquarters. The museum is currently developing an internal conservation laboratory and there are plans for a bookshop specialised in photography, to offer a selection of the best publications in the field.
In 2006, the museum-archive inaugurated its new climate-controlled storage area with micro-level controls for temperature, relative humidity, air quality and exchange, guaranteeing appropriate storage for all collections in storage.
